The Gift of Focus

I believe every relationship and interaction is a gift of love. Sometimes these gifts are very obvious and sometimes they appear to be hidden.

The other day while I was working in the library, a friend who was sitting beside me told me he's observed how focused I am. He asked me if I take breaks. I told him when I'm focused on writing or whatever I love doing, I don't think of anything else. In fact, nothing else exists at that moment.

My friend said he could feel so much power coming from me, which had inspired him to focus on his work.

I can perfectly understand how my focus had inspire my friend. Years ago I went out with a guy who was very focused on his music. Because I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted out of life, part of me was very frustrated with him for being so focused. At the same time, I found my friend's focus not only inspiring but a reminder for me to focus on what I love doing. After our relationship ended and we lost touch, I never forgot my friend's gift of love to me. When I'm focused and doing what I love, I feel my friend's presence supporting me in all I do.

When I recently got back in contact with the friend I went out with years ago, I expressed how grateful I was to him for inspiring me to focus on what I love.

Speaking of which, I received the following email recently.

"Just a note to tell you that I really enjoyed browsing your web site. I found it randomly in the middle of the night when I really needed to read something inspirational."
Just goes to show what focusing on what you love can do.

I am so grateful for the gift of focus.
