It's a Kind of Magic - Revisited

Anyone who knows me is aware that I have a thing about the number 8, numbers adding to 8 and combination of 8s. Let's just say I believe in the no. 8, big time.

I've just been browsing David Blaine, the magician's website and noticed that when he was on Oprah Winfrey's show in Chicago on April 30 2008, David broke a world record as follows:

"David was recognized in the 2009 Guinness Book of World Records for holding his breath 17 minutes 4.4 seconds, smashing the previous world record of 16 minutes 32 seconds. David doesn't know the meaning of impossible."
Note the numbers 17 and 4.4. Both these numbers add up to 8. Is it possible David has a thing about the number 8 as well?

Flash back to 2003 when David Blaine performed an endurance test called Above the Below when he lived in a box that was hung over the River Thames, right here in London, for 44 days and 44 nights with no food to eat except water. Note the numbers 44 add up to 8.

I believe the name "Above the Below" is a major clue. The no. 8 is meant to symbolise "As Above So Below" that was coined by the magic maestro himself, Hermes Trismegistus. This mystical term means that whatever is held in consciousness (above) has to be made manifest in the physical (below).

So there you have it.

Thanks, David, for being such an inspiration.
