Prayers of Deliverance

I am a firm believer in prayer and I pray about everything.

I met up with my uncle yesterday whom I haven't seen in over 26 years. He shared some of his experiences during the war in Sierra Leone, when the rebels took over and had been killing and maiming people; looting and burning people's houses burning down. He said the rebels did attempt to burn his house down.

When the fire started, all he cared about was that his children were safe out of the house. He then resigned himself to the fact that he was going to die in the fire. He prayed, went to his bed, and hoped to pass away quickly. Then he fell asleep. When he woke up a few hours later he was very surprised to be still alive. He thought he was dreaming. He discovered the fire had only burnt a corrugated sheet on the roof and the rest of the house was untouched. All the houses in the local area were burnt to the ground. My uncle believes his prayer had saved him.

Before we returned to England, my brothers and I lived with our extended family in a particular house in Freetown for about 8 years. During the war, the rebels broke into the house and threatened my relatives. One rebel put a gun to my aunt's head and told her he was going to kill her. My aunt simply surrendered and said he was welcome to kill her and called on the name of Jesus. The moment she said "Jesus" the rebel's hand went limp and left her alone. Before the rebels left they set the house on fire but my relatives put it out before it spread. While that house was saved, the house next door was burnt to the ground.

Note that my uncle is a Muslim and my relatives are Christians. It just shows it doesn't matter what religion you follow or don't follow as long as long as you believe in a greater power.

I believe in the power of prayer.
