Seeking Justice

I've just read in the Times that the British Member of Parliament and Justice Secretary, Jack Straw has fallen victim to the phishing scam and his email has been hijacked. Apparently, his contacts on his email address were sent letters notifying them that Straw was stranded in Nigeria without any funds and needed urgent financial assistance to help get him home.

Join the club, mate. A few months back, my Yahoo email account was hijacked because I fell for the same phishing scam. My contacts were sent letters telling them I was stranded in Nigeria and needed money to get home. Fortunately, my contacts saw right through the scam.

According to the news report, while Jack Straw was Home Secretary he "once launched a National Hi-Tech Crime Unit to crack down on computer hackers." How ironic is that!

One thing about these internet fraudsters is they don't discriminate. Everyone's fair game.
